Title   Nordic Art Deco sideboard bookcase with carved mythological mask heads



Description

An antique Nordic Art Nouveau Deco style sideboard or bookcase with Brazilian rosewood and burl alder veneers. Consisting or a solid set of three architectural doors opening with keys. When opened these reveal adjustable internal shelves and three shallow top drawers inside. The fluted pediments to the doors hide the keyholes well. A fielded panel of rare Alder root veneer is surrounded by Brazilian rosewood contrast and ashwood mouldings.

At the base of the doors are three individually carved mask heads of Nordic mythiological design surrounded by new wheat sheaf growth in stylised scroll form flanking each of the carved mythological faces.

The whole raided on solid bulous turned birch legs.

Quality such as this is very hard to find and is usually made by noted cabient makers such as Nordiska Kompaniet . Such a practical piece of furniture in good condition. Working key supplied.

Description

An elegant late 18th century oak secretaire desk on chest in the English Georgian manner. The upper compartment with two fielded doors below a carved dentil molding. These doors open with their original lock and key to reveil a fitted shelf and three internal drawers. Below this is a fall front writing slope that opens with lock and key to reveil a fitted compartment with 8 drawers and three pigeon holes. The desk height is standard 76cm for modern use and is 110cm wide and opens to a 53cm depth.

Below this desk are a further three full width drawers, all with solid brass  handles, locks and escutcheons. The cabinet still retains its original wrought iron carry handles on each side. A lovely duck egg blue painted finish and with gold leaf gilt edging completes this wonderful practical piece of furniture.

An antique carved oak Gothic style Medieval sideboard. The top with carved ornate border resting on a superbly carved coffer or cassone base. The cabinet of architectural form with knights in full armour as corner pilasters and with carved oak panels.

Each  of the three doors  carved with middle ages themes open on hinged brass fittings and brass locks with working key. 

The two door panels open to shelved spaces flanking the centre panel  hinged to the bottom reveals two oak drawers with brass ring pull handles.

One panel door has a year date carved  ANNO 1282 .

The cabinet with two panel doors each with steel key and working locks, opens onto a hanging space of H153 W126 D40cm . Below this space are two fitted panel front drawers.

It is quite rare to find such a gorgeous antique armoire or wardrobe  in original condition . The cabinet comes apart in two sections , with hanging space extending below the panels in the bottom section  until it reaches the oak floor above the bottom drawers.

Ornate brass escutcheons and  draw handles. Original waxed patina finish.

Description

An antique late 18th century elm display case, bookcase in the Gustavian manner. With neoclassic Georgian columns and dentilled pediment. Below this are two astragal glazed doors with hand drawn glass. The interior with fitted shelves and two interior drawers. Below this are a pair of drawers, all with ormolu handles and escutcheons and with working locks and keys. the whole raised on fluted tapering legs. An ideal piece of furniture for a narrow hallway as it is only 30 cm deep at the very top cornice. Doors have pegged constructions and all drawers with dove tailed joints in solid Elm or Birch.

Interior shelves are 22cm deep.  Internal opening is H77cm W101cm and could easily hide an LED TV .

Finished in gold leaf and white painted enamel.

Description

Impressive Art Deco period sideboard in walnut. A bevelled edge mirror framed in burl walnut with molded shaped frame sits on top of a bevelled edge mirror top sideboard. Excquisitely shaped  with rounded corners and wave front features to three centre drawers. these are flanked left and right by lockeable doors woth generous space inside.

 

the whole is raised on solid inverted tulip pedestal feet. Original aluminium escutcheons and rocket shaped pin hinges. Undisturbed original patina is a value point.

This sideboard or Buffet will certainly impress and could be used for a multitude of functions, including as a LED TV stand. Mirror back lifts off the mirror top base .

Below this are 2 short doors, all book match veneered in flame mahogany to match the upper doors. A carved egg and dart moulding surrounds the solid plinth base.

The cabinet does disassemble into three sections for easy transport.

Title    English William IV marble top sideboard with mirror doors

Description

 English double mirror door sideboard or credenza with original marble top . The shaped white marble resting over two arched mirror doors flanked by carved corbels  to top and bottom. The whole resting on a plinth base. The doors open with an original key with brass lock and latches and reveal a central fitted shelf .

The height is ideal as a hallway console piece or for modern TV stand.

The back with carved walnut surround and original mirror fits the sideboard well but in my opinion is a later addition. It can easily be removed and does not leave any fitting point .

Value point is that this piece has all its original polished finish and really shows the walnut grain well. The original marble has not been cleaned and has a good patina.

The writing surface falls open, but has an internal counter balance weight and stops, so no need to pull out desk rests on either side!. Beautiful  Swedish Karl Johan period Empire style tall cabinet designed as a pier cabinet. These elegant slim pieces of furniture were usually placed between tall windows and used as pedestals for candelabra or clocks.

A north German flame mahogany Biedermeier Schrank or armoire wardrobe. Pieces such as these were often made in pairs, one being afall front desk with drawers the other matching in appearance but having a false front that is actually a door, such as this piece. The beautifully matched vertical veneers are in superb condition. The wardrobe door opens to reveal shelving but could also be used as hanging space. Internal dimensions are W101 cm D 42 cm, so deep enough for hanging.

above this is an amazing double door convex shaped hat compartment. the same ornate brass key opend both locks top and bottom. Beautiful scrollwork applied to the top is typical of the northern German  Late Empire early Biedermeier style.

 English tripple mirror door sideboard or credenza with original marble top . The shaped white marble resting over three arched mirror doors flanked by carved columns. The whole resting on a shaped plinth base. The doors open with an original key with brass lock and reveal a central fitted shelf  with lots of storage.

The height is ideal as a hallway console piece or for modern TV stand.

The back with ornate carved walnut surround and original mirror fits the sideboard well and It can easily be removed and does not leave any fitting point .

Value point is that this piece is entirely original and has all its original polished finish and really shows the walnut inlay well. The original marble has not been cleaned and has a good patina.. but it has had a crack. This could easily be mended as it is with the grain...Priced accordingly.

The ornate peg jointed door with faux walnut painted finish features the year date of 1782 and the initials

 "NL s" which probably stands for Neilson.

Title: Antique Murphy style French Armoire folding bed

Description

 

Pale walnut and fruitwood French provincial Louis XVI style armoire with original folding mechanism that hides a guest bed.

This ingenius design allows for a full matress is W116 cm Hx18cm height plus an additional up to 37 cm in length if required to add to the original matress length os 186cm.

The single fold down door opens with a central lock, is hinged at the bottom and folds open. The two iron front legs fold out and down and are firmly secured with the original locking pin. the matress is fixed to the door, ( which is not heavy ) and can be pushed back into the cabinet along its original steel rails.

There are three heavy duty canvas belt straps that hold a second matress or bedding into place whilst folding away. Traditional peg jointed back panel , hand stitched springs to wooden frame. Marquetry inlaid with fruitwood and raised on brass capped taper legs.

The front of the door has brass wire grills and original folded silk backing.

Unusual French Provincial antique chestnut dresser base or sideboard in the Louis Philippe style and period. First half of the 19th century French. The solid top with mitre edges, moulding below and two fitted drawers. A central lock and escutcheon in place to be able to lock the drawers if required, but no key for this lock. The lower two solid timber doors have nicely engraved and chiseled long brass escutcheons original lock and key. All works smoothly. An internal shelve exists. Patina, overall a good light cherrywood colour but being chestnut or elm has a more figurative grain.
