Title     Large Regency style round marqetry dining table with tilt top seat 6-8

Dimensions

Height 72 cm

Diameter 160 cm

Description

The British company of William Tillman was making fine reproduction furniture from the 1970's until his retirement at the end of the 1990's and his work is considered to be of the highest quality and collected throughout the world. It has been sold in all of the famous London Stores including Harrods, Peter Jones and Maples and will almost certainly be considered important antique furniture of the future.

Every piece of furniture was produced with the utmost skill and knowledge to ensure that the finished article would bear the most critical comparison with the original. Whilst the polish used was resistant to heat and water, the finished surface has a wax patination similar to that found on early furniture. Tillman pieces won the British Furniture Manufacturers, showpiece of the Year award in three consecutive years.

This table is a fine example of a gorgeous William Tillman table, it exudes quality. The table top is round and is cross banded and inlaid around the edge in three bands and strung with ebony and boxwood around each one, the smaller two bands are cross banded satinwood which is so striking and very sophisticated. The generous area of mahogany is stunning and looks so delightful. The table top is a tilt top and tilts on the pedestal base. The base has four reeded legs with brass castors.

Illustrated with 8 Regency chairs offered separately.

Title Fine giltwood Swedish antique console table Museum quality

Dimensions

Height 81 cm

Width 105 cm

Description
Impossible to find, this rare and totally original console table comes from Stockholm and is entirely hand carved. The monopodia feet with acanthus scrollwork and border rest on an original black painted stepped base. The marble slab, cararra of course, is hand carved . the back edge of the marble is much thicker than the front but this is hidden by the external framework. The reason for this difference in thickness is a counter balance effect so the console is weighted to the back and won't tip forward.

Value point: Original gilding to all carving, in untouched condition. Superb piece of Empire Karl Johan furniture. This quality and originality should be in a museum…perhaps Nordiska Museet ?
