 The Copenhagen firm of Lysberg & Hansen and later Lysberg, Hansen & Therp A/S, was an important Danish furniture maker and upholstery company holding both Danish and Swedish Royal Warrants.
Founded in 1841 by the saddler Arentz , it was taken over in 1879 by AJ Lysberg (1840-1901). The company became Lysberg & Hansen in 1911, when cabinetmaker Waldemar Hansen joined the company and later in 1933 Lysberg, Hansen & Therp. The company enjoyed continued success throughout the 20th century and was responsible for many important commissions including the decoration for the wedding of Princess Margrethe and Henri de Laborde de Montpezats in 1967.

Antique set of six Regency period dining chairs with carved lyre backs with rare pineapple centres in original simulated rosewood finish circa 1830.

 

The chairs are all raised by sabre rear legs and turned reeded front legs with ornate turned bosses to fronts.

The drop in seats are upholstered in the most delicate moire silk velvet and in excellent condition. These types of seats simply lift off their locating peg for easy recovering in your favourite fabric.

Nice and sturdy frames with original french polished patina a value point.

The hand painted simulated Brazilian rosewood grain finish makes these chairs extremely desirable. Solid rosewood chairs are usually too brittle and break, but these are made from strong sturdy beech with no breaks or repairs.

The superbly carved acanthus scroll back splat with a gorgeous arrangement of ornaments most probably from the East cost of the Americas, probably Boston.

Made from solid cherrywood, these rare chairs have original patina surface and have recently been upholstered in the traditional manner of the period. The ususual curved backs or lyre shape with carved knot back splat. Raised on elegant cherrywood cabriole legs to fron and sabre rear legs. The back legs and back rests strengthened in the original design with cherrywood cross grained inserts.

Quite likely made by famous Biedermeier period company of the Danhauser factory in early 19th century Vienna.  Similar examples exist in the MAK and the Hofmoebel Sammlung, a treasure trove of original Biedermeier antique furniture in Vienna, Austria.

Nice and sturdy but of elegant design and in museum quality condition.

Antique  set of four walnut chairs of the early Biedermeier period. The elegant Empire gondola backs inspired by French examples and designed by noted Viennese designer Josef Danhauser 1805-1845.

Solid walnut construction with shaped backs that scroll very eleganty and have a book matched walnut veneered back rest. The deceptively simple looking shape  to the back curves gracefully but supports the back very well and with raised chair leg stretcher only to the sides are typical of the ingenuity of Danhauser designs many of which still exist in the Applied Arts Museum MAK in Vienna. 

Good strudy construction with square front legs and original patina polish.

Consisting of four dining chairs and two larger sized oak armchairs, this is a rare set in original condition. Solid oak construction with turned column armrest supports and raised on turned front legs and oak stretchers.

The green leather seats with a lovely golden patina that only comes with well cared for age and finish often referred to as cigar leather, due to its goregous patina. The right seat height for modern dining of 48cm.

Original brass studs to seats and backs secure the leathers to solid oak and very strudy frames.

A rare English metamorthic gentleman's lounging armchair with integrated footstool . Well upholstered in leather and with brass fittings and on a sturdy polished English oak frame. The brass levers allows the  chair to recline fully, for the armrests to pivot hinge open for access and a fully adjustable footrest below. All on brass castors. This wing back armchair is the fore runner of reknowned modern companies such as Stressless and IMG Norwegian models that are now so popular. 

Christies sold one of these in 2013 for a mere 6000 GBP !

Description

A pair of Scandinavian beauties with well shaped legs and upholstered seat.

Although these chairs look like a pair, they are slightly individual, one with a inlaid Masur Birch back panel , the other with string inlay in birch and ebony. the shaped armrests supported on turned urn supports and raised on taper legs.

Both are fruitwood with inlaid curved front rail panels and identical upholstered velvel drop in sprung seats. Well polished and very sturdy, they have been taken apart and reglued using traditional methods, so no wobbles or loosness in the frames.

Swedish Empire ( English Regency era) armchairs to grace any Stockholm interior or French Empire, Biedermeier setting.

Height of seat off floor is 45 cm

The seat rail is stamped by master cabinet maker in Stockholm. After the Stockholm Chairmakers Guild was wound up in 1846, the practice of stamping chairs ended.

A very good pair of antique cast iron chairs. These were designed by the famous Biedermeier period architect, Karl F. Schinkel who designed the most significat 19th cenutry buildings in Berlin, that still stand today.

These armchairs are adorned with antheniums, rams heads and raised on roman hoofen feet.

The seats and back are constructed of close spaced steel rods giving wonderful storng support.

The matt black enamel finish prevents any rust and there is no sign of any. These superb armchairs will not blow over in the wind as they are substantially heavy being made of solid iron.

Title Pair Ebonised oak armchairs Regecny style
Description Pair of ebonised Regency style armchairs in the manner of Thomas Hope. Nicely carved in oak with beautiful details to arrests , seat frame and back splat ornamentation. The seat is a solid panel that would suit a loose squab cushion. A very elegant curved solid oak back rest , the whole supported on sabre taper legs front and rear. These chairs would have been made 'ensuite' to an antique original , perhaps to match a sophisticated drawing room suite? They are bespoke bench made but not of the regency period, but are elegant all the same and superb quality. Circa 1980, priced per pair.

Title Pair of Georgian style Klismos chairs Faux Painted finish

Pair of English Regency style classic Ancient Greek Klismos chairs in painted faux rosewood finish. Superbly copied true to the originals with out swept sabre front and rear legs ans a superbly shaped ergonomic tub shaped backrest that supports the upper lumber region. These types of English Georgian chairs are extremely rare to find and these may have been made to match an original pair. This pair have brushed suede leather seats and are made of mahogany in the traditional manner and are all hand painted.

Rare pair George Smith style Regency armchairs with ebonised frame and well carved parcel gilt highlights. Fine lion head armrests and lions paw feet.Loose green Squab cushions with empire design. A matching pair of these armchairs from the same source took pride of place in the Late Mr W.F.( Bill) Bradshaw's collection. Mr Bradshaw was a collector and Dealer of fine Regency period and French Empire and American Federal period antiques in Queen Street, Woollahra, Sydney, NSW.

Description

 Blonde maple Biedermeier revival desk armchair  or tub bergere with ebony string inlay  The carved ergonomic backrest with inlay resting on a curved horseshoe shaped back with integral armrests. these are suppoerted by pierced carved fretwork supports and on four elegant tapering column supports.

Raised on elegant tapering front and rear legs terminating in turned club feet.

This style is a re-interpretation of an early 19th century Viennese Biedermeier design and has been beautifully hand made in this example from blonde maple or pale mahogany. The back rst and front stretcher have sting inlaid satinwood and ebony .  Drop in seat in black silk moire fabric .
