A tall central candlestick sconce rises tall above three acanthus shaped scrolling arms supporting matching candle holders. The supporting column in the Empire manner with ornate scroll acanthus leaves to pedestal base.

From the reign of Napoleon III 1848-1870 this tall candelabra in the French Louis XV rococo revival manner with four well sculpted vine scroll arms. A tall central leaf shaped candlestick sconce eminates from an organic form raised by four columnar tapering vine shaped supports. The base with ornate scroll leaves and enhanced by four jewel like cut crystal inserts. The sconce candle holders were at some time been electrified and has been discreetly drilled for wiring.

This lamp should not be accessible to young children at play in order to prevent damage or injury. As with all wired light fittings it may be necessary for your licensed electrician to certify it is safe when installing it. It is working during photography and has a very long lead with Australian plug.

Dimensions Height 39cm Width 21cm Depth 19cm Superb RARE pair of ANTIQUE Roman solid BRONZE candelabra in the shape of a stork with a snake in its beak. The head and tail act to hold up the chains from which an oil lamp is suspended. These lamps were designed to be used and are beautifully crafted. One has has an owl and the other a tiny mouse, symbols of nocturnal creatures. The double headed eagle on the other oil lamp is superb in detail . The stork stands on a naturalistic tree trunk and this in turn is supported by a tripod in the classic Roman manner ITALIAN 18th Century

Porphyry was mined in Alvdalen since 1788 . It was later aquired by the King of Sweden Karl XIV Johan, and these candlesticks would date and come from this source.
