Original Japanese collotype of the Lu Tung-pin The Hermit battling with the Dragon. Lu Tung Pin was a Tang period hermit . He attained great knowledge skill in swordsmanship and withhis tallents he dipatched a dragon in Chiang Huai. This rare collotype potographic print is from the collection of rare Japanese antiques assembled by the noted art collector and industrialist Takashi Masuda ( 1848-1938) in Tokyo. The original masterpiece is by Sesson a 16th century priest of the Seshu school. A paper label is attached to the back of the picture. Collotypes were a high quality photo print and were in use 1870-1920. They allowed for great quality but the processing was very laborious and costly. Presented in original back wooden frame and under glass.

Mounted under glass and in painted wooden frame with gallery label to back.. Edgar James Maybery (1887-1964) Painter and Etcher Born in Newport, Wales in 1887, Died in 1964. He studied art from a young age and at sixteen was exhibiting his works. His studies were completed in London at the South Kensington School, and by his mid thirties he was a member of the Royal Cambrian Society and the Royal West of England Academy. He is probably best known, though, for his etchings - usually detailed views of buildings He also used the alia "A Simes" on some of his etchings, especially for the more famous churches, palaces and castles.

Set of four engraving Antique Roman Emperor coins in gilt frames after Jegher-Goltzius woodcuts of the 17th century. Mounted under glass and in gilt frame. These are reprints of the original chiarusco woodcut (with brown tone) combined with a line etching, on a verge type hand laid paper. The original print originates from an edition of Hubert Goltzius' 'Icones Imperatorum Romanorum' (this edition is not dated). The first edition of this work was published between 1557 and 1560 in Antwerp by J. Coppens van Diest. Given the appearance of eg. Rudolph II in this edition, some portraits were added after Goltzius' time in later editions. Artists and Engravers: Hubert Goltzius is often credited with etching the portraits. Christoffel Jegher made the woodcuts. Christoffel Jegher (1596-1652/3) was a wood engraver born at Antwerp. He worked for Rubens from 1627 and is probably a pupil of Christoffel van Sichem. Hubert Goltzius (1526-1583) was a Dutch humanist author, antiquarian and numismatist. He was born in Venlo, and studied under Lambert Lombard in Liege and later in Antwerp. He settled in Bruges in 1558 and starts publishing several works on ancient numismatics.

Four French Empire style wall fresco fine art prints after Ancient Roman Pompeiian examples. These are all mounted on matt but unframed for your opportunity to coordinate with your interior. The quality of these gorgeous art prints is just superb, please see cherub detail. No publishing marks, which is not unusual for 20th century fine art prints. These cherub and vestal virgin or muse fresco wall paintings became very popular in the late 18th century when Herculanium and Pompeii were on the map of Grand Tour must see lists. Further excavations in the 19th and again 20th century produced more images which were quickly copied by local artists for the tourist trade. Giovanni Bisogno being one of the best known.
