This top is raised ona fruitwood base with massive solid tapering legs in the neoclassical French Directoire style of the 1790's. Fitted with two drawers at opposite ends with bronze handles. Good original waxed patina finish all round. The marble lifts off the base for easy transport. Tables of these proportions did not exist in the 18th century hence this bespoke made table with its versatile top meets the interior designer's requirements for modern comfort. The gorgeous blonde walnut top pulls apart easily and would have accommodated aroud 2 metres of extra table length. Luckily the wood grain is easily matched by a cabinetmaker. The lovely cross banded walnut apron leaves a luxurious legroom clearance of 64 cm below! The Art Deco carved walnut and birch legs unscrew for easy transport yet are very firm and stable for this solid banquet table. All original and original shellac finish. Note there are no extension leaves with this table.

A good sturdy dining or Refectory table with solid plank top that lifts off the base. This gorgeous top is made of two planks extra wide oak with original bumps dents and nicks to patinated surface commensurate with over 400 years of use. The top sits on a frame with four solid oak turned legs joined by stretchers with pegged joints.
Tables of these proportions are ideal for modern homes as kitchen or dining tables. They were usually used with a benche on each side and a chair at each end.

Antique Sheraton three tied lamp table bedside table of oval shape with marquetry inlay satinwood and mahogany in the Georgian manner.
Polished all round so it can be used as a lamp table or as bedside. The oval top raised on four elegant tapering legs with two further platform shelves below. The turned finials are a nice touch or finesse. The tops and legs are all satinwood string inlaid solid mahogany. The elegant legs taper and terminate with gilt bronze and ceramic castors and this makes this wotnot a very versatile piece of moveable furniture.
Tables of these dimensions were very rare in the late 18th century and the demand for quality Sheraton antiques influenced a revival in the late Victorian era. This unique 3 tier table was made in the late 1800's to suit more modern height requirements. Good sturdy condition and good original french polished patina- a value point!

By the mid 18th century virtually all the Cuban mahogany had been felled. Cuban is far heavier and denser that Honduras mahogany and highly prized. Tea had only just become fashionable amongst the aristocracy . It was also very very expensive and very limited to the most wealthy. This tea table has a hold over mechanism with brass hinges and swing out back leg. When opened the ceremony of tea making could begin . This table is raised on carved clubfoot legs and retains its good original patina - a value point. There is a shipping label attached underneath marked EVANS SYDNEY. It is of course possible that this table may have been destined for the connoisseurs collection of early English antiques for Len Evans AO OBE housed at his home "Loggerhead"s in the Hunter Valley.

Prussian German Empire Mahogany sofa table with one full width fitted drawer to apron and fold down extensions. Wonderful Cuban mahogany top and mahogany veneers with intricate inlays and ebonised fruitwood details. Raised on a two lyre form pedestals in the Regency manner with sabre leg supports. The fruitwood (cherry) inlays are typical of the quality of workmanship demanded by Prussia's most famous neoclassical architect K F Schinkel and may well have been intended for one of his royal patronage.

The legs in the baroque manner with carved and turned twist colums joined by wooden stretchers. One back leg is beautifully designed and carved as a double leg. With original wrought iron hinges and clasp this gate leg opens and supports the drop side to form a large circular dining table. An ideal table for any provincial interior or as a hall table. Original waxed finish top solid oak top and purnished spruce legs. A very similar table is illustrated in "Swedish Antiques" by Karin Laserow and Britt Berg , Pages 41.

A genuine pair of circular French antique Gueridon lamp tables with gilt bronze ormolu and two circular white marble platforms. In the French Empire manner and dating from the 19th century. Raised on curled bronze supports and acanthus leaves with paw feet and original brass castors below. An ormolu flame finial joins the legs in the centre. In excellent original condition. Originally purchased from Queen Street Woollahra. An identical single table but with mahogany top is catalogued as circa 1790 Directoire and is house in a Paris Museum .

Antique Georgian Sheraton fold over games or centre table with satinwood inlay two tier circa 1900. Raised on elegant slayed outward Georgian style tapering legs finished with string inlay. Good french polished finish. The top with satinwood cross banding and marquetry shell inlay. It has a slight bow to the top that would probably straighten out with a few heavy books or a lamp on top. This top rotates and is hinged open to reveal a green baize centre for card games etc. A later added drawer with pleated cloth sides is ideal for haberdashery or shess pieces etc. The size and height of this table makes it ideal for use as a bedside table too.

Raised on turned and reeded legs in the Traditional Charles X manner of 1815-1830. The full width and depth drawer makes for practical storage and is hidden as part of the apron below the top. It is most unusual to see the knotty walnut used in the solid as a table top- so luxurious. The fabulous grain is usually reserved for veneers especially as the timber around the knot shinks and warps unpredictably due to the nature of the timber dgrowth. A lovely original patina and golden lustre waxed finish. Clearance below drawer is 55cm.

Beautifully carved mahogany English late Regency console table raised on ornate acanthus leaf carved legs with carrara marble top top. The (later) marble with good overhang to rear to clear most skirtingboard depth is laid onto the original mahogany top. Supported by scroll carved front legs and pilaster column support rear panel on concave shaped pedestal mahogany base.
This is an ideal as a hall table as a small desk or as a bedside table.

Solid oak refectory table with solid twin plank top and ornate carved balluster pedestals. This 16th century original table with original pegged construction and good patina. A full width oak drawer below the top may have been added in the early 1800's and has a gorgeous solid bronze handle. Antique original tables such as these were usually made moveable from chateau, city castello or to country house and needed to be easily assembled. The original pegged construction and lovely patina speaks volumes. This period Renaissance design has been used in Northern Italy, France and England since the 1400's. Ideal use as a hallway table or even as a desk.

Antique Satinwood Louis XV lamp table rosewood moulding raised on elegant cabriole legs and ormolu mounts. Other specimen timbers used in this superb table include kingwood, tulip wood and brazilian rosewood in the solid molded serpentine shaped top. Good original patina and finish. This superb piece of early 19th century furniture bears the label of John Ball and Forman, founded in 1809 and expanding to Oxford Street London in 1835. Forman joined the business in 1855. The business offered bespoke made furniture as well as restored antiques.

Swedish Gustavian painted tile top centre table carved and painted in the provincial manner of the 18th century. Tile top tables were a hobby for the prosperous and became a cultural expresion. The tiles in the 18th and 19th century usually had an ornate painted pattern which matched the tiles covering the columnar heater or kackelofen. Because these tiles where glazed they became a useful surface for a centre table as they resisted heat and spills. This table is very well carved in the traditional Swedish Gustavian manner and painted in distressed grey finish to match. Perfect for the French provincial country interior as a coffee table with chic!

An antique American Federal period tea table or Pembroke table with fitted single flame mahogany drawer with polished brass ring pull handles to both ends and on carved turned Regency legs raised on polished brass cup castors. In excellent condition with beautiful polished surface this sturdy table would be ideal as a supper dining table or bedside table. The well figured grain of the heavy dense Honduras mahogany is truely impressive. No wobbles or repairs but a nice firmness to this table shows the superb craftsmanship is probably of Philadelphia origin. The leaves are held up by hiddenl timber hinged brackets from underneath. This ensures that none of the legs are comproised by the opening action , unlike so many English made examples. One or both sides can be extended as desired..
