on mahogany casework. These doors open to reveal three internal linen drawers
with variable adjustment rails.
Below this lift off top section
are two full mahogany short and two long drawers all with original knobs locks
and a working key.
Late 18th century Georgian
original with very rare ebony string inlay to the doors with ebony edging to the
base.
Raised on elegant Hepplewhite
splay feet.

Georgian Chippendale period of the 18th century .
The single bevel edged mirror door with flame
mahogany panel. The door opens with a key and a turn knob lock to reveal a large open space inside with original silk lining . a hanging rail is fitted under an upper shelf and original brass hooks .
The door is flanked by carved ornate acanthus florettes and framing.
The whole raised shaped chippendale bracket feet.

Description
Rare French colonial armoire two door wardrobe in heavy solid rosewood with
fitted drawers 1860 Nalopeon III colonial era.
Beautiful architectural
solid rosewood pelmet with a rounded corners is typical of the
French Louis Philippe and 2nd Empire style of 1820-1835.
The two doors with double plank insert panels to solid rosewood frames with brass hinges. An ebony inlaid escutcheon to each door. Hand forged Empire lock and working key supplied. Once opened the interior features three removable shelves. The centre shelf with two straight front drawers below.
Original polished finish to gorgeous figurative grain heavy rosewood.
Due to the rarity and cost this type of rosewood would have only been used as a veneer back in France but here it was sused in the solid indicating manufacture close to the source of the wood or perhaps a Port Town.
The interior with hand wrought iron hooks holding down the lift off top and door catch and the usual French jointing construction bolts to help together the casework from inside.
If you require hanging space it would be easy to just lift out the shelves and insert a hanging rod.

A flame mahogany
Biedermeier Schrank, armoire or wardrobe. Pieces such as these were often made in
pairs, one being a fall front desk with drawers the other matching in appearance
but having a false front that is actually a door for linen storage or wardrobe such as this piece. The
beautifully matched vertical veneers are in superb condition. The wardrobe door
opens to reveal moveable shelving but could also be used as hanging space.
Above this wardrobe space is an amazing convex shaped double
door hat compartment.
The same ornate brass key opens both locks
top and bottom. Beautiful architectural scrollwork applied to the top is typical of the
northern German or Scandinavian late Empire style known as early Biedermeier.
