Title    French Empire marble top console serving table with brass and mahogany construction Napoleon III

Description

French Empire marble top console or servery table with brass details and mahogany construction .

Napoleon III mid 1850's.

The pireced brass gallery surround to the old marble top with slight staining and wear. This top lifts off the base that is fitted with two drawers with brass moldings and handles. Raised on turned and fluted columns and with lower platform base to turned mahogany feet with brass details.

I assume these solid colonial coastal cedar facades were originally built into a stately home and were enhanced later to be free standing bookcases and were adjusted in size to accomodate a particular library..
