The black painted wooden cross the sculpture is mounted on is modern handmade in order to display this statue correctly. A similar crucifix was sold by Drouot Paris for 2100 Euro : 18th March 2016

He is noted to have lived at Kensington London. Well executed oil painting that has a beautiful depiction of the light of the area when it floods the architectural landscape in the arfternoon.
This original painting is mounted in the original pine frame of the period 1934.

The huntsman complete with kilt and steel button sach belt is dringing from the stream. A hunting dog at his feet is drinking from the pond. In excellent condition for its age this Georgian era Scottish tapestry is mounted in a 20th century frame.

Heavy real BRONZE sculpture statue of a proud prancing horse in the mannerr of da Vinci. A very similar example is in the Metropolitan museum of Art and sculpted by Giovanni Bologna called Giabologna 1529-1608. It was cast in Italy 1575-1653 in the workshop of Francesco Susini.
This statue is unmarked, no signature of founrdy stamps. It has a beautiful patina and is a wonderful example of equestrian sculpture. It has an integral cast bronze plinth base with later felt pad below.

Vernon Deschamps is a pseudonym name used my Scottish born artist James Swinton Diston born in Edinburgh 1857. He studied and exhibited at at the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Academy. He migrated to Australia in 1886 where he prospered until his passing in 1940.

Henri Tebbitt was born in Paris in 1852. He was a self taught artist and exhibited in the Royal Academy in 1884. This important early 18th century painting is after the famous work by Rembrandt van Rijn entitled The Standard Bearer , Floris Soop (1604-1657). The golden sash is a tooled leather baldric or sword belt and indicates the figure to be an ensign of Amsterdamn's civic guard companies. Floris Soop was a wealthy man and was a connoisseur of the art world collecting over 140 paintings in his life time as well as a portrait by Rembrandt. The original painting is currently in the Metropolitan Museum NY. This early 18th century artwork is a superb quality painting but is also unsigned. James Ashton (1859-1935) was born in York and educated in London. he emigrated to Adelaide SA 1884 establishing the Norwood School of Arts 1886. A very gifted artist he loved painting outdoors in watercolour and his oil paintings are rare treasures. He returned to England in 1894 and was elected to the Royal Society of Arts and returned to his family in Australia the following year. His son Sir John William Ashton became a highly acclaimed artist and was appointed Director of the Art Gallery of NSW in 1936. Beautifully detailed oil painting on canvas of a harbour scape complete with wharf and ships with the city skyline in the distance. This superb painting is mounted in a later giltwood frame and appears to have an inscribed signature into the oil paints lower right ...J Ashton for James Ashton. Although techically Australian this London Thames docks scene would most likely date to 1894-1895.

He built an important Australian reference library . His passion all thinks maritime led him to recreating historican scenes with famous ships. This engraving of HM Bark Endeavour at Botany Bay near Kurnell where Captain James Cook first landed and was met by an Aborigine welcome. Mounted and framed under glass and in excellent condition. Armand Fagotto lived and worked mainly in France during the late 19th century and the early 20th century. His sculptures are very recognizable and he has a talent for powerfully sculpting predator animals on rocks. This hand sculpted terracotta although unsigned and may have been a test piece for particular fired glaze colours and how they perform visually on the sculpture. A number of well documented sculptures signed by Fagotto show the same flowing majesty .

She was built at Scotts Greenock in Glasgow for the China Navigation Company London in 1886. She was a 2,269 gross tons single screw steamship clipper with 2 masts rigged for sailpower. In 1912 she was sold to the Australian Oriental Line ( G S Yuill and Co. ) Sydney. This painting shows the Changsha under full steam with A&O Lines house flag. He studied art from a young age and at sixteen was exhibiting his works. His studies were completed in London at the South Kensington School, and by his mid thirties he was a member of the Royal Cambrian Society and the Royal West of England Academy. He is probably best known, though, for his etchings - usually detailed views of buildings He also used the alia "A Simes" on some of his etchings, especially for the more famous churches, palaces and castles.

The dome top shape is solid heavy spruce pine with original wrought iron lock working key and escutcheon.
Two ornate wrought iron carry handles are mounted at the ends. An iron chain assists with holding the lid open in place.
These gorgeous antique dome top trunks are usually given to the bride and groom upon their wedding and was lovingly hand made usually by a memeber of the family hence the initials and date surrounded by ornate floral design. These trunks would contain the highly prized linen and lace that made the provincial farmhouse feel more like a sophisticated home. A rarity is that this chest retains its original wrought iron lock and original working key . Sweden 1831

Jan Sirks (Rotterdam, 23 February 1885 - Zeist, 11 March 1938) was a Dutch graphic designer who mostly did painting, watercolours, drawings and etchings of the Rotterdam harbours, animals, cityscapes and landscapes in a romantic realistic style. Sirks was a co-founding member of the Rotterdam-based artists group "De Branding". Set of four engraving Antique Roman Emperor coins in gilt frames after Jegher-Goltzius woodcuts of the 17th century. Mounted under glass and in gilt frame. These are reprints of the original chiarusco woodcut (with brown tone) combined with a line etching, on a verge type hand laid paper. The original print originates from an edition of Hubert Goltzius' 'Icones Imperatorum Romanorum' (this edition is not dated). The first edition of this work was published between 1557 and 1560 in Antwerp by J. Coppens van Diest. Given the appearance of eg. Rudolph II in this edition, some portraits were added after Goltzius' time in later editions. Artists and Engravers: Hubert Goltzius is often credited with etching the portraits. Christoffel Jegher made the woodcuts. Christoffel Jegher (1596-1652/3) was a wood engraver born at Antwerp. He worked for Rubens from 1627 and is probably a pupil of Christoffel van Sichem. Hubert Goltzius (1526-1583) was a Dutch humanist author, antiquarian and numismatist. He was born in Venlo, and studied under Lambert Lombard in Liege and later in Antwerp. He settled in Bruges in 1558 and starts publishing several works on ancient numismatics.

The original carved figure of Christ in Ivory is of early to mid 18th century origin and is in very good condition for its age. This is mounted on a water gilt matt and burnished cross fitted to a rouge velvet backing. The original 18th century frame in carved and gilded wood of the Regence period 1715-1723 France. The back of the frame bears the sepia mark of noted Ivory specialist in Paris C. Ricoux 32 Rue la Boetie Paris . A similar crucifix was sold by Drouot Paris for 2100 Euro : 18th March 2016

An oil on canvas painted after the noted Danish artist Jenns Juel (1745-1802) . The original portait painting is in the State Museum of Art in Copenhagen . Jens Juel painted this portrait of a lady with pearl earrings in 1766 and it is remarkable . The noble visage of a lady with fair skin and with fine lacework collar and lace hat peers out at you from the canvas. She is quite a nordic beauty and knowingly glances with pride whilst wearing a very large pearl earring, a rarity in its age in Europe. She would grace any home. The original painting is named as "A GIRL FROM HOLSTEIN" This exquisite hand painted danish oil painting on canvas is dated 1927 on the back of the canvas. it is identical even in size to the original 1766 painting . A beautifully painted landscape oil on canvas mounted on board painted after the noted Australian Colonial artist Conrad Martens. This painting is in a gilt wood frame and depicts early Australian views of Vaucluse, Sydney, New South Wales. On the reverse is an artists notation for Sept '73. The painting itself is signed Martin and is similar to one sold by Mossgreen Auctions . Note that this is not being offered as a genuine Conrad Martens but rather a painting superbly excecuted by the artist Martin in the same colours and painting techniques as the antique original by the colonial artist CONRAD MARTENS.

Antique oil painting of two ladies in period Elizabethan dresses complete with rich embroidered silk and ruffled collars. The focus is on the lady in brilliant gold dress at centre holding a closed fan in right hand and the left hand a child beconing for attention. A fabulous rouge drappery as backdrop. Sadly there is no signature or marks attribute or to date this gorgeous painting by. The back of the wooden panel shows hand adzed finish consistent with pre 19th century painting boards. The gilded and carved frame is of the Empire period with various gilt carvings including acanthus molded corners and only minor losses to gesso molding.
